Help! How do I run Lord of the Rings Online under Windows 10?

I like to play Lord of the Rings Online (Lotro).

It works fine on my 8 year old Toshiba Laptop (using Firefox.)

I just bought a new laptop, with Windows 10.
I can install Lotro, get logged in and choose my Server (it’s a multi-server game.)
But after the standard game message “trying to connect”, the screen simply remains blank.

Any ideas?

While this is a factual question, it’s also a question about a game, and is likely to get better answers in the Game Room forum. Moving.

I played LotRO for years (I was even in beta). I played it a couple of times after being on Win 10. No issues. I don’t think the OS has anything to do with your problem. I suspect you may have something corrupt in your installation. There should be a “repair game data” option in the game launcher. If you haven’t tried that, give that a shot before trying anything else.

Thanks - I’ll try that.

What directory is the game installed in? Most programs by default get installed in C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86); these directories have restrictive permissions. I always install games in a separate directory (I create one called C:\Games), so that I have full control.
