Help! I.D. this 80's sci-fi kid's show!

This one has been bugging me for awhile. Searches turn up everything but this. You guys here seem to have helped me before when I’ve had a show to id, so I’ll put it to you:

Early-mid 80’s or earlier. I saw it then but it could have been from the late 70’s and rerun. Live action and puppets. Two human people (or more) in a space ship. My parents said they were British, but I don’t know. The main thing I remember is a puppet bear or bear-like thing. He was very stuffed animal looking. His head turned real slow and he made small warbly cute noises. I think he may have been supposed to be an alien, not earth bear. This I know for sure: Usually he was good, but when he got angry, his EYES TURNED GLOWING YELLOW. Then he was bad. I think his name was THEORY. Of this I am pretty sure. In one episode he was in a cage and was angry and had sharp fangs.

I think this show was originally from the BBC and was airing on PBS.

That’s all I remember. Anyone have any idea?

Well, it’s not an exact fit, but there was a bizarre Gerry Anderson puppet show called Terrahawks that featured an evil teddy bear monster/character called Yuri.

Does this picture ring any bells? (scroll down)

The show was all puppet - no live action - and not set aboard a spaceship, so it may not be quite right.

I believe that may be it, thanks! I didn’t remember them all being puppets but since a lot of them are human looking I was probably too young to realize they were. I never grasped what the concept of the show was about anyway so its very possible that this is the right one.

Could it have been The Far Out Space Nuts? (with Bob Denver from Gilligan’s Island!!!)

hmm, doubtful. I think it was Terrahawks. I just called my Dad, who watched the show with me back then, he says that name sounds familiar and that the cast WAS all puppets! So yes, thanks a bunch, Crusoe!

No problems. It brought back a few memories for me too!

You know, for someone with a minor puppet phobia (like me), those images are a bit disturbing.

You should see the supposedly “normal” cast members. Even more disturbing puppets.
