Help ID a small (4 inch) art-deco-like "weeping" woman statue (pics)

Since this is more an artsy-fartsy question than general knowledge, Café society seems the correct forum.

This little statue (about 4 inches long) of what appears to be a weeping woman (or maybe a 1930s style double face palm) is in sort of an angular art-deco style form (squared off body angles, hair represented by grooved lines). The status is sculpted with the knees bent forward somewhat. The hair on the back of the head is sculpted as coming together into a little hair bun (again, not a lot of detail, rather abstract representation). The statue is metal, fairly heavy for its size - perhaps pot-metal? (the status is non-magnetic)

The status has been kicking around my parents’ basement for decades now; since it’s been some years since Dad passed away, I’m finally doing a major clean-up of the basement and came across this little statue. I had seen it from time to time over the years, but it’s no family heirloom - Dad probably picked it up in a box with other things at an estate sale in the 1970s or 80s - he used to like to go to them.

Two obvious sources come to mind, which I kind of dismissed, although I could have been rather hasty about that:
It didn’t seem to match any hood ornament of domestic US vehicles from the 1920s - 1950s (at least on the sites I checked), besides the pose is not very aerodynamic.

I can’t image what kind of athletic trophy would have a weeping woman on it (or worse, a frighten woman covering her eyes in fear), so I’d like to discount that too.

There is a threaded hole in the bottom, so it was likely mounted on some sort of base. The hole looks to be #6 NC (I don’t have a gauge handy).

Can anyone help?

The statue itself is plated, perhaps chrome, although the plating is pitted and scratched here and there. The images appear a bit yellow as I didn’t use great lighting to take the images. The status is about 4 inches, as the small ruler next to it illustrates.

It doesn’t look to me like she’s weeping. It looks like she’s hiding her eyes for some reason. I can easily see her being part of a pair of figurines on a risque table lighter or some such. The male figure is exposing himself or making advances. She’s being demure.

Just don’t blink.

Well, I that could well be a viable interpretation of her pose and admittedly one I never considered. Outside of context, I guess I really couldn’t tell. Heck, as I said it looks a bit like a double face palm even, although that would be extremely unlikely IMO.

Also, I’m fairly certain the statue has no Doctor Who connotations, RealityChuck…

Do you really want to risk it?

Post #3. I love you guys.

(As soon as I saw the thread title, I wondered how long it would take…)
