Help Identify This Coin

So, I got a cool foriegn coin in my change sometime is the last week. I’m sure someone out there in Doperland can tell me what it is. It’s a very recent issue, round, slightly larger than a nickel, is lightly knurled on the edge and is made of zinc or some other silver-colored metal. Judging by the writing, it’s of Asian origin but someone I talked to today ruled out Chinese. (He’s Cambodian, so I’m guessing it’s not that either.) However, maybe it’s so new that he just doesn’t recognize it.

One side has a very cool looking lion’s head. Quite fierce he is too!

The other side has a man and a woman with arms upraised, holding what look like a hammer and a wrench. Their style of dress looks European, with the woman in a long skirt (she reminds me of Maria in The Sound of Music, actually) and the man is in what almost appears to be coveralls. There are a couple of houses and a factory in the background and a 2 and a 5 on either side of the man and woman. Each side has some newer, stylized Asian characters rather than older, more formal ones. Obviously, this nation wants to project an image that they’re modern and cool, a nation all the other nations want to hang out with.

So what is it? I tried Googling but quickly found that a pain in the tush. Besides, it’s more fun to hear what you guys come up with.

Someone will probably have the answer pretty quickly. If I don’t answer right away it’s because my computer is still dead and I’m using someone else’s. I may not get back to it until tomorrow but I thank you, nonetheless, for taking your time to help me out.

Cheers!

Thanks, Mirror Image and Shark Sandwich. I would have never guessed it was Ethiopian. Obviously, I haven’t ever seen their writing before. I’m going to give the coin to one of my nieces. Thanks for enlightening both of us.
And thanks to the nice mod who moved this thread for me. It didn’t occur to me until later, when I no longer had access to a computer that I’d put it in the wrong forum. :smack:
