Many years ago, I saw a movie on TV. If I had to guess, I’d say it was made in the 1940s or perhaps 1930s. (I’m thinking the movie was in black & white, but given that my viewing of it predated broadly available color TV, who knows.) I think it was one of those madcap comedy romance movies.
The only thing I really remember about it was that a supporting character was a bumbling inventor, the kind of guy whose inventions never quite work. This time he invented edible beer bottles, which appeared to actually work. Some of the other characters were excited about the concept. But by the end of course it turned out the bottles had some kind of fatal flaw.
Any idea what movie this was?
