Help identifying painting

Back in college, I bought a poster to decorate my room. I had never heard of the artist before, but I liked the way it looked. When it was time to move out of the dorm, I got rid of the poster and for the life of me, I can’t remember the name of the artist or the name of the painting. I’ve been doing my best to try and find it via google, but as I can’t search by name and I don’t remember the exact subject matter I’ve been unable so far to find it.

I was hoping that if I were to describe the painting, someone might come along who could identify it for me. I’ll describe it as best I can and hope that it rings a bell with someone.

It was, I believe, in the Pre-Raphaelite style (though maybe not by one of the true Brotherhood). The subject, as I can remember it, was of a couple embracing or kissing at night. The color palette was definitely dark and subdued, but with some instances of strong colors, particularly red. As I remember, the man and woman were in a courtyard in a fierce embrace. The man was wearing a dark cloak or cape and was wearing a red hat, or maybe a hat with a red feather in it. The woman was wearing a dress that was grey, I think. I think that the painter was either Italian or Spanish. I think that the title had the word “Kiss” or maybe “Tryst” somewhere in it but again, I don’t remember.

I know that these are really vague details, but if anyone can help me I would truly appreciate it.

Canadia

Possibly this Alma-Tadema thing?

Or this?: The Stolen Kiss

It is this: The Kiss

Wow, the texture of that dress is amazing!

Sevastopol-- good find.
We learn that it is a common topic meanwhile.

Sevastopol, seagull-style google-fu.

That’s it!!

My description wasn’t exactly close, was it? I agree though, the texture is amazing. That was one of the things that attracted me in the first place.

Sevastopol, you rock!

It was close enough that when I read it, I thought of The Kiss.
