Help IDing a movie scene (probably 80s or 90s movie)

So this is gonna be a bit vague, which is why I haven’t been able to re-find this clip myself, but I bet someone here can do it.

The scene is on a dock/pier type place (I think) with people around. For some reason I think they might have gotten ice cream, but could be wrong. It’s a conversation between two men - one is black and one is white, and I think the black guy might be Eddie Murphy (but could be totally wrong about that too).

The black guy asks, “So what do you want to get out of life? You know, before the ride’s over.” While I’m slightly paraphrasing this quote, I do remember he used the phrase “before the ride’s over”. Then the white guy gives some philosophical response, which I don’t really remember the details of.

I thought that phrase might be enough to Google it, but haven’t had any luck. I know the clip is on YouTube, because that’s where I originally watched it.

Richard Pryor, chatting with Gene Wilder, in SEE NO EVIL, HEAR NO EVIL. (You didn’t find it on google because he doesn’t use the phrase “before the ride’s over.” Instead, he says “before the show’s over.”) Clip is here.

Great find!

And they’re not on a pier either so I was wrong about every single detail except the ice cream. But that’s definitely it. Thanks!!
