I’m trying to install a program but when I do, it starts the installer for my video card driver. I’ve had this happen before but I don’t know how I fixed it. I think I deleted some temp files, but I can’t find any applicable ones (though I’m guessing at names).
Can anyone help me out? Thanks.
What are you try to install and from where? If you download something and save it you may have overwritten in with something else.
Try clearing the normal temp directory. It’s called %temp% – just type that in the Explorer address bar. You can delete everything in there (just make sure you closed all programs you’re not using or sometimes it won’t let you).
Thanks all. Eventually I just uninstalled the conflicting program.
Well Well. This little problem has reared its ugly head again and uninstalling the program that it attempts to install doesn’t do it. The program uses a windows installer. I’ve deleted all my temp directories, all setup1.exe files and setup.lst files (files that, I was told, can often create problems). I don’t know what the hell to do.
Try the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility.
