Help me be less irritable at work

Oh, I can be quite good at being focused and pissed off. And my staff pays attention to that.

But my baseline kvetching and abruptness can all-too-often be interpreted as anger at people in the vicinity, when I don’t mean it that way. That sort of stuff is counter-productive.

I suspect that your short temper is shared with many other doctors as well. I think I even saw a thread about it the other day and it certainly mirrors my personal experience with medical doctors. Even my vet gives his staff a pretty bad attitude sometimes, it must be extremely stressful at times.

I’ll echo what Podkayne said and add this: I almost never regret working out after the workout. Almost every time I walk out of the gym, I feel better and I’m glad I did it. On the days when I just don’t feel like going, I use this thought as a motivator.

I also use the workout to draw a dividing line between the work life and the home life to help maintain the illusion on sanity.
