Unfortunately I drew the #1 pick in my 10-team 1/2 PPR league, with a snake draft order. This means that my #1 pick is very important, as I don’t go again until #20 and #21. The obvious contenders are Christian McCaffrey (who is coming off of an injury season), Dalvin Cook and Derrick Henry, the latter two who have a lot of mileage over the past few seasons. I definitely want an RB, as the other teams all will gobble up the RB’s first. Can go 1 RB and 1 WR with picks 20 and 21. Other contenders that come to mind are Alvin Kamari, Antonio Gibson, Najee Harris and Nick Chubb.
I consider Christian McCaffrey to be the clear #1 if you’re getting 1/2 PPR or more, no question. Dude is a receiving machine despite his quarterbacks being hot garbage for his entire career.
As a secondary Jets fan, I can tell you with confidence that Sam Darnold has a ton of experience with two yard dump-offs. For a while there I didn’t think he could actually throw the ball beyond the line of scrimmage.
I see many more PPR in CMC’s future.
(I drafted him as a rookie in our 1/2 PPR Dynasty League here on the boards, and despite my team being a bottom-feeding cellar-dweller for a decade, McCaffrey essentially won me a championship by himself.)
I don’t have much confidence in Saquon Barkley; his two games before the injury last season were pretty miserable. Something like 2 yd per carry. That’s the Giants OL for you. Kamara is my clear #2, with Barkley #3 and then everyone else.
Definitely McCaffrey. The injury is, of course, a concern, but McCaffrey is just too valuable when healthy (especially in .5 PPR) to pass up. I could be convinced of Cook, also, if you are super against drafting players coming off injuries.
Forgot about this part. Sure, I don’t see why not. As opposed to what, though?
(Note that I’m the guy with the decade long losing streak while Hamlet has been in the playoffs just about every season in our league, so take our advice with the appropriate respective grains of salt.)
Sorry, I meant that RB’s are so valued in my league that I definitely would want to take 2 (and maybe even 3) with my first 3 picks.
Y’all are definitely convincing to go with CMC first. I guess anyone can get injured, so makes sense. Plus, he may be more motivated after last year. The other problem is Darnold and lack of other offensive options, which would allow defenses to key even more on CMC. But I’d probably kick myself if I passed on him and then he has his typical season.
