Help me come up with new silly slogans

You can’t put Unicode text in title blocks? Let me try this…

ETA: I just whipped up an HTML page by hand, copied the upside-down text into the title element, and it worked!

I can’t put it into the text file that the random script pulls from.

Hmm. With a Unicode-aware text editor, I can type using the US Extended keyboard mapping on my Mac and save it as UTF-8 (or any other Unicode encoding such as UTF-16).

Are you on a Mac? What text editor are you using? My text editors give me the choice of saving with UTF-8 encoding.

Does the script language not handle Unicode?

I’m just using Notepad and when I paste the code in it just looks like squares.

Hmm it looks like I can turn on unicode in Notepad. I’ll give it a try.

Nope, comes out as blocks in Chrome, at least, when the page loads.

In honor of a recent Google doodle:

OCWDHQ: We have discovered a truly marvelous proof of Fermat’s Last Theorem which this title is too narrow to contain

What OS are you using? I’ll see whether I can scare up a freeware Unicode-aware text editor.

Oh I can get Notepad to save it in Unicode (figured out how) but when I upload that file and load the page, it comes out as squares.

It’s not a notepad issue - it’s a combination of browser and O/S issue. It sounds like your system font doesn’t have glyphs for the Unicode characters involved. There’s a stack overflow question about this
