Help me create a CD of overwrought rock ballads!

This thread is just reconfirming how totally uncool I am because I – I like a lot of the songs listed. A lot.

So I know a lot of 'em, and I think you’d have to also consider

When I See You Smile (Bad English)
Fly To The Angels (Slaughter)
I Remember You (Skid Row)

This last one is one of my favorite songs. Seriously. Sad, but seriously.

Hey, I like most of the songs too, but I’m perfectly willing to admit that they are pure Rock N Roll Cheese.

–points at Jodi and snickers–

Weeps. Because she knows she can’t deny it’s true.

Surprised you didn’t mention “Bringin’ on the Heartbreak,” though.

I like many of the songs mentioned too, even though I agree they are overwrought.

I’ll throw out another

I want to know what love is’ - Foreigner

Snicker all you want, CERVAISE, Sebastian Bach rawks.

Ah, hell, I can’t even post that with a straight face.

Way overwrought: Sherriff’s “When I’m With You”

my favorite Suvivor song: “I Can’t Hold Back”

not sure if anyone’s mentioned Air Supply yet–lots to choose from there.

Queen’s We Are the Champions is pretty darn wrought.

Ooh! Ooh!

Cheap Trick - Ghost Town

same album. In the category “overwrought rock ballads” I’ll put this one up against any other.

“Shannon,” written by George Harrison and recorded by (I think) Harry Nilsson

Pearl Jam’s cover of that old fifties song “Oh where oh where can my baby be…”

“Jeremy”-Pearl Jam

Pretty much anything by Ronnie Spector

“To Sir with Love”-Lulu, or the Natalie Merchant/Michael Stipe cover from '93

Michael Crawford’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart” from the Broadway run of “Dance of the Vampires” should be the version included. There was never a cast CD, but you can probably find a copy.

Alice Cooper- Might as Well be on Mars

Actually, I rather like this song, but it does fit the description of over-wrought ballad.

You got it! It was performed by Joe Satriani if anyone cares.

Now I’ve got that Top Gun song stuck in my head. Damn you GMRynjin!

How about “Hero” by Chad Kroeger from the “Spiderman” soundtrack?

How about the song from 2001: A space oddessey when the monolith comes to the apes?

Heh, I made myself want to see Top Gun again.

“That’s a negative Ghostrider, the pattern is full.”

Thin Lizzy - Still In Love With You (The live version of course!)

“I want to know what love is” by Foreigner

That’s a whole lot of overwrought rock ballads.

I like “Holdin’ out for a hero”, REO Speedwagon and others. Scorpion’s “Winds of Change” needs to be on there.

Do you realize that if all of these songs were packaged on several CD’s and sold on late night television you could make a lot of money? Well, probably not if you use my tentative CD title, which is “Why Are We Listening to This?”
