Some time in the last 5 to 10 years, I checked out a French book of stories from the library that I have been trying to track down again. The problem is that I remember neither the title nor the author, and what I do remember has not helped me find it.
It was a translation into English that was probably done fairly recently, though I think the book itself was originally older, perhaps written in the early 20th century.
It was published by a small press that I think specialized in literary translations, though I can’t remember which one.
I don’t believe it was a novel, but rather a collection of related stories. I believe the stories were about childhood, though I don’t think the book was written for children. I think they were brief vignettes about the author’s childhood.
I have the impression that the title might have had something to do with flowers or a garden, though I may be wrong. I also think the cover was pinkish, but this may also be wrong.
Does this ring a bell with anyone? I know it’s not a lot to go on, but it has been bugging me for some time.
