Help me find a picture - Cubs "Hope Springs Eternal"

I thought my Google-fu was strong. I thought I had some skills. I have failed.

Cubs fans (and perhaps Chicagoans in general) may know this picture I seek. It is a single pane cartoon of a winter-clad Cubs fan sitting in Wrigley Field. The caption is “Hope Springs Eternal”.

I think the artist might be Jeff MacNelly, who did “Shoe”, and the art for Dave Barry. I may be mistaken. Also, I’m curious as to the origins - was it for a Mike Royko piece? Cover of Chicago Magazine?

I can’t even find reference to the pic, much less the pic itself. Any help?
