Help me find an obscure Eighties song!

Once again I turn to the wisdom of the Dope.

I’m looking for an abscure 1980s song. I recorded it off CFNY sometime before 1987; I remember listening to it on a cassette walkman while standing in the lobby of Anderson Collegiate after a programming course*, and that course was in 1986.

I transferred the recording from cassette to minidisc to MP3 to iTunes, and I’d really like to find out what it was so that I can buy a clean copy.

Here are some of the lyrics, as near as I can make them out:

Lyrics searches have come up empty. Google knows nothing. If someone could help me find this, I’d really appreciate it, and a long-term musical mystery would be solved.

I’m told that it’s “Away Away” by The Promise, circa 1984.

Can’t find that specific video, but this should be the same band, so you can confirm the vocals match.

Huh. “The Promise” rings a muffled bell. More googling yielded this page…

“The Promise” and “Away Away” are both surprisingly diffcult to search for. And why doesn’t the iTunes store let you restrict your search terms to be either a band or a song name?

Glad that was correct. I hate having those kinds of mysteries where the lyrics can’t be found and you just can’t pry the details out of your brain.

And I have a great memory for music too. There was the time I was looking for Reparata, whicj I remembered from hearing on my mom’s clock radio in 1978!

Is it just me or are lyrics sites not very searchable?
