Help me find an old thread [about a scary movie]

Either that, or help me find what I’m looking for in the thread. My search-fu isn’t working.

The thread was, I think, about scary movies or things that scared us/freaked us out as kids. I posted something about a science fiction movie I had seen as a kid. The plot revolved around these huge black crystalline rocks of alien origin that were popping up everywhere. I think they caused blindness if you came into contact with them.

Anyhoo, a Doper actually knew the name of movie, and once I knew the name, I was able to find it in a B-movie science fiction collection.

I have searched every damned way I can think of (and with 300 seconds between searches, that’s taken a while!) and I’m not finding that thread.

Mods, I wasn’t sure where to put this. I couldn’t remember what forum the original thread was in. May or may not have been Cafe Society.

Since it’s about movies, it’s probably better for CS than GQ. I also clarified the title.

You posted about other movies in “What creeped you out as a kid?” and “Other things that creeped you out as a child.” But I don’t see a post about that particular movie yet.

runner pat, I don’t think you’re the one who ID’ed the movie before, so it’s even more astonishing that two different Dopers turned it up.

Now I’m off to make note of the title so I don’t forget it again!
