Help me find my rings!

It’s been a few days, did your rings turn up?

We had this incident in my house a year or so ago – my mother wound up going through all the garbage bags (it was the night before garbage day) thinking that perhaps she had accidently swept the rings into the trash.

That’s not where ultimately the rings turned up, but it could very easily have happened.

Hope you’ve had success and this is just being curious about nothing.

Hmmm…

Was there someone in your home recently? Not a joke… perhaps a gardener? Someone pulling weeds, or taking care of your plants, or something?
I get the sense that the ring has been taken by someone. Possibly one of the children, but I’d start with the gardener (if, of course, there is one).
Someone inwardly weak, but outwardly strong. Passive agressive? Do you have someone staying with you on a temporary basis?

Alternatively, were you doing work outside, perhaps taking something apart, a fence or wall?

Relevant passages:
The inhumanity of obstruction does not help the steadfast uprightness of cultured people; The great goes and the small comes.
Heaven and earth not interacting brings obstruction; under such conditions cultured people avoid trouble by frugality, unwilling to work just for money.
Pull out a reed and it brings along others of its kind.
It is shameful to be taken in.
…keeping destruction in mind, they persist in holding to means of sustenance.
Not a strong feeling here, but hey, it’s 4am. Took a shot. :frowning:

Good luck!

Nice try, Sauron.

If you know someone with a really good metal detector, and is skilled, you might have some luck sweeping your home. There are actually services that do this, if you just google for lost jewelry recovery or something.

Then again, when was the last time you checked your cleavage?

Hope it turned up, if you haven’t found it yet.

My sister lost her wedding ring back during the summer. After much searching, she finally concluded her ring must have come off while she was making stuffed peppers – 20 of which were now tucked away in her freezer.

When we visited at Thanksgiving, she fed us stuffed peppers one night, and my son found her ring. Luckily, he discovered it while it was still on his plate.

Don’t give up hope!

Long story left out, I took my ring off in a big hurry right before I did something that might have damaged it. QUICK, where were you when you had to do something that you thought might be unsafe for your ring and QUICK, look where you would have put it “out of the way”.

Did you look in your boobs? That would make a great addition to the “wierdest thing found in your cleavage” thread.

I lost my ring twice and recovered it both times, so don’t give up hope. And then have it reduced in size; any jewelry store can do it and it is not expensive. At least if it is a simple gold band.

The first time, I guess it really was a weeding ring since I lost while, yes, weeding in the garden. I went back, sifted through all the dirt and, mirabile dictu, I found it. The second time we were visiting friends in the winter when I realized that I didn’t have my ring on. I decided it must have fallen off when I took off my boots in the vestibule and, when I searched the vestibule, there it was.

Good luck. I know how it feels.

We have a shelf unit in the bathroom, and I am pretty sure I can picture there. It makes sense. That is where I jeep the hand lotion, but I have torn apart that bathroom with no luck.

Did you do/fold laundry at all before you lost them? Mine have slipped off into the laundry basket a couple times.

I found my husband’s ring over a year after he had lost it. He had been playing in the sandbox with the kids and put it in his pocket. It fell out. I found it when we took out the sandbox, totally by coincidence. The odds were tiny. Keep hoping and looking.

Laundry has been done a few times over.

There is way too much snow for gardening.

Um, gimme a second (checks boobs) nope, not hiding there.

I lost my wedding ring in the process of moving. I didn’t make an insurance claim because I had decided I would get it back. Went to a hypnotist to try to see if my subconscious would tell me where it was but no help. Hypnotism might work for you; if not it is an expensive relaxation session.

A year later I was contemplating throwing away one of the boxes we hadn’t even opened because if we hadn’t needed anything from it … but decided just to sit down and look through it first. I picked up this item and thought, gee, that looks like the ring I lost, wait … it is! Turns out friends arrived early to help moving and I took it off and put it in a nearby cabinet, and said friends ended up packing up the cabinet.

Thinking positively, I’m looking forward to when you update this thread with where you found your ring.

Have you looked in the bathtub? Around your collar? In Mordor?

Sorry, I wish I could help.:frowning:

Maybe a more thorough check is necessary. I’ll be right over.

Yes, be sure to give us a ring if you find it.

Here’s my theory. Your husband’s got it. he’s having it re-sized or re-set or something as a gift.

You said the ring had gotten loose recently, do you ever play with the ring sliding it back and forth. If so are you normaly watching TV or something else while you slide it?

Any luck,** Ludy**?

I FOUND THEM!!!

I was feeling a bit chilly so I tossed on a hoodie that I haven’t worn for a while, and there they were sitting in the pocket. I have absolutely no recollection of wearing this when I lost them, but apparently I did.

I feel so much better now.

You know you can blame it on poltergeists, don’t you? They love hoodies.

Oh that is great, that you found them! I love a happy ending.
