Help me find this song

It’s a 70’s rock song, the only lyrics I can recall (and not even sure if they are right) are:

“Wake up (or maybe it’s “look up”), wake up, wake up and look around you.
We’re lost in space, and we don’t know what to do”

Then it goes ohh oh oh ohhhhhh oh ohhhhhhhh oh

To me the singer sounds like the guy who sings “I’m a picker, I’m a grinner, I’m a lover and I’m a sinner”, everyone knows that song, who is that?

Steve Miller?

thank you, yes that is who sings the joker, toker song, I couldn’t think of his name (born in '76, what do I know about 70’s music). I believe he sings the song I am trying to find. Just a sec and I’ll see…

Hmm, I still don’t know. I put in Steve Miller Band in Kazaa and all I get is Abracadabra (hey I do remember THAT song though, the video on MTV scared me, I was like 4). This is a early 70’s song, possibly even from their late 60’s albums. Then again I’m not even sure if it is SMB, but pretty sure.

Well, after much searching I found it, thank you Ageless6 for reminding me of who it was. The song is Serenade by Steve Miller Band.

well, I was right on the lyrics except instead of “and we don’t know what to do” it’s “and the time is our own”. Hey, only heard the song a few times, ok.

nothin’ like havin’ a message board chat w/ yourself, now I guess I will go to bed like I should have about 6 hours ago.

Por nada, although I don’t remember Serenade by the title.
I saw Miller live in SFO once or twice. I always liked his music, but he also gets my vote as the most fucked up performer I ever saw on stage. One night he held up the show for a half hour or so and was finally spotted in a wig and shades in a balcony, just gazing down at the crowd and other musicians on and off the stage frantically calling him over the mics. He had to be virtually be carried down to the stage, where he proceeded to mutilate his songs by forgetting the lyrics and singing any damned old thing that happened to enter his dope soaked brain. I, being in much the same condition, enjoyed it.
Good times!
