Help Me find This WSJ Story (Surgeon Becomes Devout Christian)

I think i read this story, sometime in the mid-1980’s-if anybody knows how to search the WSJ archives, i’d appreciate the help. Anyway, it was about a very rich, very famous Texas surgeon. I forget what his specialty was, but he was very good-he made tons of dough. he was also a big wine expert-he ahad a multi-million$ collection of rare wines in his cellar.
Then, he suddenly became a devout christian-I found his life story very compelling. I think the guy also changed his lifestyle-he would up living much more modestly, and giving much of his money to charities.
Anybody know who this guy was, and what became of him?
Thanks for your help!
