Help me get my PS3 online!

I feel foolish asking because I’m usually pretty good at this sort of thing, BUT…

How do I get my PS3 online? I was under the impression that it had WiFi - says so on the box and the pimply teenager at the store confirmed this - but I have a wireless network and it doesn’t seem to have any interest in it.

I know that just plugging it into a phone point is the easiest way, but the nearest phone point is on a different floor of the house and I’m not albout to just run a massive cable up the stairs and into my office. This leaves the only other option - getting someone in to install a point near the console, and that’s an expense I’d like to avoid if possible.

Your PS3 isn’t the 20gig one, right? As that was the only one that shipped without Wifi.

There should be a “Scan” option on the network screen; does it find anything? If not, is “broadcasting” enabled on your Router? If not, then the PS3 won’t be able to find it unless you enter the settings manually
