I recently purchased Wii Rock Band 2 and my kids are having a blast. I have a few questions:
Where does one get Wii Points? Do I have to purchase them or is there another way of earning them?
Where are the songs listed What’s with the free downloads? I connected wirelessly and never heard of any of the “free songs.” Where arePsycho Killer" and the other songs listed on the back cover? Pretty misleading to list them on the back cover and yet they cost $$$ to dl.
How do we “improve” beyond the easy songs? Right now, only “warm-up” and “apprentice” songs are listed in the menu?
Any other tips or things I should know that might make this more fun?

[li]You get nintendo points by purchasing them. You can purchase them with your credit card online through the Wii Store, or you can buy Points Cards at stores like Best Buy. As far as I know, you cannot “win” nintendo points.[/li][li]When you start the game, you only have access to some of the included songs - you need to unlock the rest. You do this in World Tour mode. As you play and complete the existing songs, new cities and new songs will become unlocked. The free songs for downloading are free because they are bands nobody ever heard of (for the most part). You will need to pay for the vast majority of DLC, 200 points per song. (There are a couple songs that are 100 points).[/li][li]See answer to #2.[/li][li]I find that it is more fun to play with more people. Also, make sure you take the time to create characters and a band to tour the world with. The loading graphics are hilarious when you see the band you created.[/li][/ol]
Thanks for the info… if anyone is interested, here is the cheat for opening all songs:
Go to “Modify Game”
Click on “Enter Code”
Using the guitar, press Red-Yellow-Blue-Red-Red-Blue-Blue-Red-Yellow-Blue
Then, scroll down and click the box next to “unlock all songs”
Note that the code gets entered once to unlock the option, however the option has to be selected every time you start the game… and, while the option is in effect certain parts of the game are defeated, e.g. keeping your scores.
As others have indicated, the proper way to do it is to go into Story mode and complete gigs, challenges, etc.
Apparently (haven’t tried it myself) the quickest route to do this is to:
complete one of the warmups (band, fender, vocal, drum)
complete one of the apprentice challenge (band, guitar, bass, vocal, drum)
complete the following decade challenges in order: 90’s, 60’s, 00’s, 70’s, 80’s
