Help me get to Italy!

Arrrrrgggghhhh! This is the second edition of this thread, the first one apparently having been purged during the two days the boards were down. Thanks to all who responded to that one.

To repost:

I am a 24-yr old American male, and I want to live in Italy, perhaps for a couple of years. Any experienced parties who can offer advice on how to go about doing this, I would greatly appreciate your input. The last time this thread was posed, quite a few people suggested waiting tables. Sounds alright to me.

I have also considered joining an organization called WOOF. Further research is needed, but apprently registering with this organization enables you to work on organic farms in the country of your choice in exchange for room and board. Ideally, I’d be able to pick up the language while doing it, although if the farm is full of other foreign kids, I don’t know how much Italian will be spoken.

So what do you think? Help a guy out!

I did it for two years myself, in Sicily. This, though, was courtesy of the U.S. Navy.

If you want to work at an air base with P3’s for a couple of years, check it out.

Good luck!

my friend lived and worked in italy with her italian lover for a couple of years, she got work no problem in a whisky bar in bologna.

however, italian beaurocracy, being what it is, i suggest you get ALL your insurance, residency and work visas done and dusted BEFORE you go, as the waiting, queueing and form-filling is fairly horrendous once you get there.
