I recently recieved an e-mail from a friend of mine, a link to a “spot the difference” game where i was tasked to find three differences between two seemingly identical pictures (an aerial shot of a beutiful fjord, with a small town in the distance). Accepting the challenge of being one of “only thirteen people in the world” who had found all three differences, i peered closely at the screen… only to have the images in front of me change instantly into a horrific monsters face, complete with ghastly sound effects. So great was my shock at this cruel twist, I found myself (25) covering my eyes with my hands, afraid to look at the screen until the monster was gone. I would like to repay my friend with a similar trick. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I don’t know, but can I be the first person here to ask for the link?
For research purposes, of course…
I’ve seen it too but I second the request for the link… there’s a few people I’d like to er… show it to.
Don’t post the link here as a clickable link. That’s a no-no. Just post the address.
Trust me on this.
Mail him a dead fish.
Oh, I fell for that one when it first came out. Whoever sent it to you does indeed deserve to be punished.
Did your e-mail say that the sound quality wasn’t very good, so you should turn your speakers way up? I fell for that part, too.
Here is a great trick that does not involve computers:
- Have your friend and an accomplice sit on a couch talking.
- You should be behind the couch with an electric drill pretending to be drilling something there.
- Stop drilling for about a minute, then poke your friend in the back with your finger while making the drilling sound with the drill right behind his ear.
3.1) Make sure your friend has plenty of take-off space as he’ll be jumping rather far forward.
Good luck

Kinda pricey for a practical joke, but damn, can I ever see this being annoying as all hell.
here’s another request for the link–send it to my email address, if necessary

thanks.
Google the terms car commercial “ghostly image”. The second link on the eresults page will have something you might be able to use.
I got taken in by one that looked like a normal test for colorblindness. You are looking for numbers in these mosiac-type illustrations, and I was finding them ok until I got to one in which nothing was standing out, so of course I leaned in and stared harder…that’s when all hell broke loose.
Wish I could find that page, but I’ve been Googling for about twenty minutes and haven’t come up with anything.
It’s hard to do this with the newfangled digital stereos, but I used to crank the radio in people’s cars as I got out, so the next time they got in and started the car IT WAS REALLY LOUD UNEXPECTEDLY. I scared the crap out of a lotta people with that one. Simple, but effective.
As I remember, the following is the first one ever posted to the SDMB. (And, just as quickly, forbidden to link to.)
There, just remove the ""es. The “surprise” comes in about 30 seconds, have your speakers turned down, not work-safe or for people with bad hearts. I hope that’s [del]anal-retentively overprotect[/del] indirect enough a link for [del]lawyers, nannycrats and prude[/del] everyone’s sensibilities.
(Heh. That IS fun.)
Hey, how about the goatse.cx…?
Ow! Stop hitting me! OW!
The Noodles speaks: No jack in the box sites!
I’ll be careful of who you send the email to.
Once, long long ago, it was a peaceful and quiet day at my office. We were just going about about our business in a small software development outfit when suddenly there came a cry of anguish from the…CEO’s office!.
Wondering what the heck happen, we all rushed in, to find a shaken CEO staring at a screen. The offender who sent the email was hauled out and executed. Eh, nope, not executed, but given a lashing down, about how he should not use company email to send out this sort of annoying and childish stuff.
Ok, here’s the link, non-clickable. And seeing how anyone clicking this link knows a jump is coming, it should be pretty harmless, right, moderators?

amd heres the accompanying text:
How observant are you? Check this one out…it took me a while too ! I was able to find 2 before I gave up … have to look close … look at the town. Let me
know how many you find! There are two pictures identical to each other, you have to find three differences.
If you can find three differences, then you are part of an elite group
of individuals. This has been tested on 8000 people, and only 19 people out of 8000 found the three differences. There is no trick, all three differences
exist. Try it!! click on the link.
No tricks! My arse!
Uh, car commercial ghostly image sounds like it could do my job… but i am genuinly afraid to try it! Ps, sorry, i didnt think that link was clickable! Sorry!!
Yeah, sorry… I read that rule, but i was under the impression that you had to [link] blah blah [link/] to eh… link… but its not misleading! people know its a jack in the box site, right?
