Let me say right off the bat that this is not illegal, immoral, fattening, harrassing, or more than a wee bit silly, and the “victim’s” mother is in on the whole thing. First, a bit of background.
A couple of years ago, my daughter and a friend of hers came up with some gag gifts for another friend. The execution of these gags had the full support and assistance of the girl’s mother. The “victim” had no idea who pranked her, nor does she to this day. Variations on this prank have been ongoing since then, with irregular frequency. The perpetrators have decided to kick it into high gear, and my daughter requested that I seek the assistance of the deeply twisted, warped, bizarre, fun-loving Dopers of my acquaintance.
Here’s all it will require: You’ll need to purchase a postcard featuring a local scene as well as a stamp. I’ll send you a .jpg to either print on the card or to print on a label and stick on the card. I’ll also provide the address and ask that you write a few words, but nothing that will give away the secret. Much jollity will ensue.

Depending upon the response, I may have to limit the number of participants - I’ll check with the other mom about that, since her mailbox will be involved. I promise that this is all in good fun. C’mon, it’s me talking here! Would I lie? Would this face lie?? No. The answer is no, I would not.
So, if you can spare the price of a postcard and a stamp (23 cents, I think) drop me a line and let’s see what happens!
Oh, and, though I’ve never tried it, I’ve read that you can take a regular photograph and use the back like a post card and mail it. (though a permament pen must be used to keep it from smearing. Or a large sticker sheet portion too.)
That way the real obscure post cards could be cranked out.
Wouldn’t it be funny if people did this, but with themselves in the picture wearing a paper bag over their head?

This sounds much like a prank some friends of my mom initiated in college. They would have letters and postcards sent to their victim from various locales around the world, all signed “Don and Char.” It lives on in our family at least; any time a family member vacations someone else in the family gets a card from Don and Char.

London would be lovely - any country would be lovely! I’ve got a nice list of names going. In a few days, I should be ready to turn you all loose. And the neat thing is that this has been ongoing for years, so it’s not like we’ve got a deadline. If you want to wait till after the first of the year to send your card, that works too!

Another Knoxvillian checking in here who happens to LOVE pranks like this. I travel around a bit, so if Lsura has the in-town covered, I can find some pretty obscure stuff elsewhere.
Well, we just cleared it all with the mom - she thinks it’s a hoot. Her only request is that the cards not be obscene. So be funny, weird, silly, bizarre, cryptic, or dull, but not dirty.
Let’s get some more folks signed up. And it’s not like this has to happen right away. You can wait till after the first of the year or send a card off as soon as I send you the address, or any other time you wish.
