Help me ID this 80's song...

I heard this song on Mtv in approximately 1983. I have no idea who sings it or what it is called, but here is the part I remember:

“Ooo-rah, ooo-rah, ooo-rah-yay…Over the hill with swords of a thousand men…”

I think it tells the story of some kind of battle…it mentions how many men died and such. I also remember one part of the video, which was where a bunch of men, dressed in Arthurian armor and carrying swords, run over a hill. (duh.)

Anyway, this was like my favorite song when I was a kid. Any guess as to the artist and title?

Tenpole Tudor, Swords of a Thousand Men (1981).

Lead singer Ed Tudor-Pole later went on to follow Richard O’Brien as host of the gameshow The Crystal Maze. I think the band may still be touring.

Awesome! 23 minutes and I get an answer. I love this place.

Thanks, Crusoe!

You’re welcome!

I used to serve his old mum ice cream.

“My boy used to be on ‘Top of the Pops’”. If I heard it once…Nice old girl but she did rattle on. Liked a cornet.

Didn’t he end up hosting ‘The Crystal Maze’ or similar ?
