Help me identify this pop instrumental please

Zombies do instrumentals because the only lyric they know is “Braaaaaiiiinnnssss…”

Yeah it’s time we all download Shazam on our phones, good for times when we hear a song we like and try to identify. Especially with instrumentals.

I’m waiting for Nobody to reply to the above posts and confirm or not if those are songs he/she is looking for.

I tried to take a stab at the song, but the link seems to be dead.

Samuel Beckett, is that you?

I’ve had success with two instrumentals I couldn’t identify by plunking them out on a guitar and posting a link to a recording here. Isn’t there an online piano or something you could use to do this? here’s a virtual piano. I use audacity to record.

I know this post is 6 years old or so, but the song you are looking for sir is called “Breezin’” by George Benson. 1976.

“Moonlight Seems Right”? :dubious:

I missed this the first time around. So it took five and a half years longer than it needed to for my life to be made complete.

Oh wow, I didn’t realize this had been revived. Before I saw this I thought about embarrassing myself by recording my voice doing part of the instrumental but decided against it. But since the thread is back, maybe I’ll record myself and post it Sat or Sun.

OK, if you click here you can hear me try and imitate part of the instrumental.

Wow, thanks for the flashback!

I think there is actually a xylophone in this song, or at least a synth that sounds like a xylophone. This song was real popular in the mid 80s… I always get it confused with another candidate, Rockit by Herbie Hancock.

There’s a glassy Yamaha DX7 sound in what I would call the bridge of that song. It’s not a xylophone, but it has that kind of digital vibe-marimba kind of sound to it.

It almost sounds like the breakdown from Funkytown around the 4:20 mark.

Thanks for singing it, six years after we asked you to :). So, it’s minor key, and has that sort of triplet phrase. This probably isn’t it, but what the heck: [Theme from Fletch](Theme from Fketch), by Harold Faltermeyer.

Tierra del Fuego!

Not Paul Hardcastle - Rainforest?

I like your username!!

Finally found it. It doesn’t sound quite like I remember. Either I didn’t quite remember it correctly, or I heard a different version.

Hiroshima - One Wish

The good news is I have never heard this song before, so I don’t feel bad for not getting it.

That is brain-crawlingly 80s though.

I was hoping that the final reveal would produce a “Oh, yeah! I DO remember that one!” But, nope. Don’t recall that one at all.
