I finally got my hands on the new U2 album How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, and I’m enjoying it. Something is driving me insane, though - partway into “City of Blinding Lights” is a little tune that, to me, sounds like it’s out of an Andrew Lloyd Weber musical. I’d say it’s just after the 2-minute mark, if anyone wants to listen for it.
Does it in any way resemble a song from a Broadway musical? And if it does and I’m not insane, which one?
Can you be a bit more specific about what you mean, like what are the lyrics at that point in the song, or is it instrumental? I can’t really hear anything that sounds out of place in a U2 song, but then my familiarity with Broadway musicals is minimal at best.
Are you talking about the “oooo, oo, oooo, oo, oooo, oo, oooo, oo, oooooo, oo, ooo” part that leads into “Oh. You. Look. So. Beautiful. Tonight?” Even if it is, I can’t help you.
Ms. MacPhisto: I’m headed to San Diego and Anaheim for the kick off of the tour–15 days and counting!
KSO: You’re lucky! I’ve still got nearly 7 weeks to go before Vancouver, and I know I’ll just be dying from anticipation once people start reporting on set lists, stage design, etc. At least the presale worked for me, and I’ve got GAs!
Antigen: I’ll listen again tonight when I get home.
Ms. Macphisto: The $%^# presale was not what I had hoped but through a friend I’ve managed to get GAs for the shows in San Diego and Anaheim. I’ll post a full report once I get back home…
