I’m posting this for my buddy Sundance.
He has heard a song recently on Top 40 radio and wants to know who is singing it. He is pretty sure that it is either a U2 song or has Bono singing back-up vocals.
To my knowledge U2’s last single was from the soundtrack of “Gangs of New York”.
Does anybody have any idea what song this could be?

The only song I know of “featuring Bono” is Michael Hutchence’s “Slide Away”, released late 2000 I think.
It’s a great song, IMHO.
Maybe he’s thinking of that Coldplay song (is it called “Yellow”?)that sounds like they want to be U2 SO BADLY. The music even vaguely resembles U2’s “Beautiful Day”.

About the U2 song, cant think of a new single from them right now, what about Electrical Storm? Is that there newest single?
You’re right, Delly, Electrical Storm is their latest song, according to www.U2.com. I don’t know of anything that Bono’s done indepedantly.
And regarding cbawlmer’s saying Coldplay sounds like U2, I agree with you–I don’t think they do, either, particularly, and Yellow certainly doesn’t sound like U2, IMO.
Your friend wouldn’t have happened to remember any bits of the lyrics, would he, McDeath?
I’m not sure “Yellow” is the right song title at all. All I know is that Coldplay sounds like they’re shooting for the audience that really likes U2, but wishes they sucked a lot more.
Just my opinion. I’m sure lots of people like them, but they bore me to death.
It is I “Sundance” who is trying to track down this song and I really appreciate everyone’s help!
The few times I have heard this song it has always been at the tail end of the song, or at a busy grocery store where I can just barely hear parts of it. During one of these “10 second windows” I happened to be with a buddy and I immediately asked him who was singing the song. His reply was “I think it might be U2”? Which is all I have been going on. Since I have heard bits and pieces of this song 2-3 times on mainstream radio stations I am assuming it is newer release? If U2 hasn’t realeased anything recently then it probably wouldn’t be U2?
My car stereo was ripped off a few months ago so I haven’t been able to log any radio time hoping to come across the song.
I will listen to the suggested songs to see if they are it.
Once again I appreciate everyone’s help on trying to track down a song that I have been able to give so little information about!

cbawlmer…I cannot believe you figured out “Cold Play” when I suggested it might be “U2”!
I cannot describe how much of a mission I was on to find this song. Perhaps because I had so little to go on, and the more people I asked who didn’t know, the more determined I was to find it!
