Help me name my cousin!

My uncle Bobby and his new wife are expecting a child. It’s basically a honeymoon baby–they were married in early April, and their son is due in February. I named the last child born on that side of the family (my uncle Stan’s daughter, Shannon), so it appears that now I’m supposed to name this one as well. Problem is, the parents are incredibly picky. Here are their qualifications for a name.

[ul]
[li]The name must be manly.[/li][li]They are Jewish, and apparently there is a nice Jewish tradition in which you give the child’s name the same first initial as that of a relative who died. Here are the letters they have to choose from:[/li]
[li]B[/li][li]C[/li][li]G[/li][li]H[/li][li]J[/li][li]M[/li][li]S[/li][li]T[/li][/ul]
[li]Their last name is Cohen.[/li]
So, help me name this kid! They don’t mind trendy names at all (I think Leslie’s favorites are Hunter and Chase, for example), nor do they mind Jewish names, as long as they’re really, really masculine.

Ive always liked the name Brandon, but thats just me

but Thomas is DEFINATELY manly!
How many names do you get to chose, just the first?
later, Tom

Hate to point out the obvious, but a lot of people forget this. You probably don’t want to give a Jewish kid a “Christ” name, like Christopher or Kristen.

Too bad, really, because I love the name Christopher. But if I named my kid that, they joy of the birth would be seriously dampened by the sorrow of having my mother drop dead of a heart attack.

Steven, Thomas, Gregory

Those are my picks!

Joshua, after the only Orthodox Jew I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing very well.

Brian and I had a conversation today in which we both laughed our asses off over the hilariousness of naming the kid Christian Mohammed Cohen. We figured he could be the poster child for UU.

I don’t see why everyone is wasting so much effort on this. According to the OP, it’s already been determined that the kid has to be named “Manly Cohen”…

Michael of course…after myself and Michael the arc angel.

Avoiding those Christian entanglements, how about the ever so manly:

Thor Cohen?

“poster child for UU…” ROTFLMAO!

Esprix is gonna be peeved at you for that one.

Now that I mention it, Esprix is a good manly name. Oh shoot. It starts with the wrong letter. Too bad.

So, I decided to try to be helpful and looked up an old bookmark I had for a baby name finder.

I remembered that it had a feature: “Find It: Finding the perfect name for your baby has never been so easy. Get your own customized list – instantly!”

So I tried it. I input the criteria specified by Drain Bead. (Unfortunately, “manly” wasn’t an option.) Since you had to choose the first letter of the name, I just picked B, because it was first on her list.

Here are the results that I got:

1.Baram
2.Baruch
3.Bazak
4.Ben
5.Benesh
6.Bichri
7.Brit
8.Buni

And if you take the Manly name seriously, my favorite prof’s father’s name is Manly Watson. It sounds cool.

A no-brainer! Zach!

It’s gotta cool ring to it. Zach Cohen!

I just think it’s a cool name.
