No name update to add (we’re still trying to find what fits him), but…
Our dog’s trainer in Alabama contacted us to request help in finding homes for some of his other dogs that had been retired and were slated to go “back to the farm”. It seems he has been hiding out a lot more dogs than just the one we adopted, since his local adoption group was not helpful in adopting them out. He clearly cares for these dogs, and it was very touching to hear him talk about their personalities and share funny stories about them. It was a completely different view of the greyhound racing industry, and good to know that some people genuinely do care for these dogs.
He will be sending 6 of his dogs to our local rescue group next week, and moving forward will send up all of his dogs as they retire. When we found our boy, we were happy to be saving just one dog - we never could have imagined that through that chance encounter that there would be a chain reaction that would end up finding homes for so many more.
So cool!
