Help me understand this Sci-Fi Channel commercial

A girl pricks her finger on a flower (one that does not even appear to have thorns). She looks close and her finger is not oozing blood, but some clear fluid, like lymph. Then she explodes into a white spray and the flower chuckles. WTF?

It’s like, surreal and junk. It requires no explanation as long as it looks cool.

My take: she’s not a girl, she’s a humanoid waterballoon; the flower is amused when she pops because she didn’t know she wasn’t human until too late.

I’ve always liked the one with the woman and the long-tailed dog-thing; the shy tongue touching at the end cracks me up.

Point of order: It’s not a commercial, it a promo, or more correctly, an ID for the network.

It’s to make you think, to question reality. I like the one where the top of the bald monk’s head opens up to swallow a bug, and the one where the baby breathes fire.

Until someone can explain why a guy blowing into a dog’s ass is supposed to make me watch a cable channel, I’m not even going to try to analyse the flower one.

Same here, I was expecting this thread to be about that ad.

My take on the flower one is that this is the flower’s way of watering itself. Whenever an animal or person gets pricked by the flower’s thorns, some kind of chemical enters their body and creates a very rapid reaction that reduces them to water, thereby nourishing the flower. It’s a feeding mechanism–a twist on the methods of real-life carnivorous plants.

I saw that one last night, for the first time. I had to rewind it and watch it again- I couldn’t believe that they had a guy blowing into a dog’s ass on TV.

Normally, I like the SciFi blurbs. This one, however… All I could think was, “He’s got his mouth on that dog’s ass! He’s got his MOUTH on that dog’s ASS!”

I’m so glad it’s not just me. Can you imagine being in the room when this idea was pitched?

I thought that one was great. It made me laugh out loud.

I like the one where a monster rears up behind a guy, who takes the stick from its mouth and throws it, whereupon the monster goes to fetch it again…
