Help me with this Cat situation.....

About a month ago we got the cat neutered. I always wait until my pets show signs that it’s time; in heat, spraying etc. He wasn’t showing any signs, but I was afraid we wouldn’t have the money when it was time, and the vet said he was old enough.

Here’s the problem…

Sweet, affectionate, floppy when you hold him kitty, becomes evil spawn of Satan! Almost imediately after recovering from procedure. He NEVER scratched the furniture or us before, even when tiny kitten, he just wanted to be held. Now that he’s almost grown and can do some damage, he’s shredded the curtains and the screen door trying to climb them.
When he was little, he would pat your face while you held him, now it’s wise not to let him have access to your face.:frowning:
Thankfully, he’s still indifferent towards my son. He absolutely loves the dog, but dog has seen the change in him and keeps out of his way.
When he wants something, we still get our ankles rubbed, but a toe will be bitten or leg scratched afterwards. He chews on everything, And he runs around the house bouncing off walls, and knocking stuff over.

I thought getting male cats neutered was supposed to make them calm.

Have him neutered again. Maybe it didn’t “take”
If that doesn’t work, try an exorcism.

I noticed the same things with my female cat (who is now 10 years old). She was WILD for quite some time (perhaps a year?) after we had her spayed. She slowly calmed down though and turned back into the lap kitty she was originally. She still runs after us, whacking us around the ankles with her claws every now and then, especially when she thinks we haven’t filled her food bowl quickly enough.

Man! That’s a drag! Did you mention this to the vet? Maybe he’s in pain from some slow-healing wound or something. I would be very bummed if this happened to my little softies. Call the vet.
