Help Name Our Son...

Why thanks, Shirley…the feeling is quite mutual. And I gotta say, I really like “Martin”. I’m putting both that and “Marshall” on the table (pending approval from the other half of the Naming Committee).

And since you asked, the daughter name is Shayla Kathleen McLaughlin. At first I didn’t care for Shayla…thought it was too trendy. But after looking around for a few months, I couldn’t come up with a single Shayla in real life. Plus, it’s grown on me quite a bit.

bouv? Single coolest idea in the history of cool ideas. I know it’ll never get past the aforementioned other half, but I’m still gonna push for it.

And Scott_plaid – that was a bonus when we we’re seriously looking at naming him Joseph Atticus McLaughlin.

Pump up the J.A.M., pump it up! ::Where is the head banging smiley?::

Gregory.

For those that were offended my previous point…TAKE A LOOK at the bottom of my post where I mentioned an apology to those that I might offend. I simply don’t like the names. Doesnt mean you have to dislike them. Doesnt mean you have to agree.

Ps. Hal…Brandon? Shaun?

of the 3 listed, Gregory

however, i add a vote for Douglas… Douglas Noel would be nice (now just find a way to slip an Adams in there as well

or even better…

Ix

it has a long, infamous history behind it

If I ever had a son (which would fulfill so many prophecies I don’t even want to think about it) I’d love to name him for two of my favorite authors: William Twain (for Shakespeare and Mark respectively). Sagan Vonnegut wouldn’t sound as good unfortunately.

PS- Yes, I know Twain’s real name was Samuel Langhorne Clemens, but I don’t particularly like Sam [oddly enough], Clemens has no real ring to it [there’s Clement, but they’d think he was named for a Pope], and I won’t even comment on what “Little Langhorne Sampiro” would go through at school.

I’ve read 3 pages but didn’t see any mention of Ian. Of the 3 mentioned I think we might choose Gregory.

Gregory, but don’t go with the expected nickname of Greg. Instead, go for Gory. Heh heh heh. GORY!

I personally like the name Trevor as well. I don’t know many Trevors in real life. Plus, it rhymes with “clever”… or then again, maybe that isn’t a plus.

Riley I like, but it’s become too common for girls. Probably by the time he got to school he’d be known for having a “girrrrrl’s name”.

Slight hijack alert: Excalibre, Damon is one of my favourite male names. I also like Damien and Darien.

And Draelin, I work with a Ryland, so it’s funny you should mention that! I’d never heard the name before, so I think it’s cool.

STOP.THE.PRESSES!
I GOTS THE NAME!

Jesus Joseph and Mary Lastname.

A name, a curse and it flows. A trifecta!
My job is done here.

To my knowledge, my sister-in-law got the name from an alley in Washington, D.C. I don’t tell a lot of people that.

Not Trevor. Just don’t.

It’s a name like “Wendell” or “Rupert”… people called Trevor tend to grow up to fit into the stereotype of people with that name.

Josephs and Gregorys are harder to put into boxes and come with less baggage.

Besides If you call him Trevor I’ll hear “you can call me Trev, baby” every time I think of him.

But I have a friend named Trevor, and he’s one of the coolest guys I’ve ever met… :frowning:

Hrm. I think I like Gregory the best–shortens well, wears well, and you can’t make any embarrassing nicknames out of it.

Ahem: trevor, the funny but annoying flash animation.
