A friend recorded a song off the radio in the mid 80’s called “Acid Rain”. No one, even the DJ that played it, knows the name of the band. They sound British or Aussie, and the list of bands that have a song by that name is long, but none of them are the one we’re looking for. Lyrics are:
“Rain, Rain, go away, little Johnny wants to play
Rain, Rain, go away, acid rain is here to stay
Home home on the range, where the deer and the antelope used to play
Rain, Rain, go away, acid rain is here to stay”
Over and over and over again.
Know that it’s not Silverchair, Firehouse, Junior Vasquez, Shadowman, DRI, or a myriad of others that pop up on Google, Netscape, AOL, etc searches.
You can actually hear the song at http://www.raynfallcreations.com
(the first link under Artist/Song title)
Maybe you can help a friend of a doper out?

Ya know, I consider myself pretty good with mid 80s music, but you’ve got me completely stumped.
Dream Theatre has a song called Acid Rain, not sure if it is the same one.
I can’t get that link to work.
And those bands you list like Silverchair and such sure ain’t 80s bands. I think Silverchair was in diapers in the mid-80s.
Can you give us another link?
Hmmm . . . I had winamp up when I clicked it to test, and it seemed to work for me . . .
However, I’ll contact her and see if she can fix it
OK - the definitive answer from her is, “Let the page load - and wait . . . the song will start playing by itself. Don’t click anything !!”
It does take a while to load - it’s an .mp3 file. She’s sending it to me, so I’ll try to find a way to post another link . . .
Hope this helps .

I got a down and dirty page up that should let you hear the tune. It doesn’t always work for Netscape 8.0 though . . .
Here’s the song
It takes about a minute to load on my DSL connection, it will take MUCH longer on a dial-up.

Wow, that’s a long song. It’s not bad either. I like some of the synth work.
I have no idea who it could be and apparently I’m not alone.

Funny you found Catt’s site - she’s the friend I posted this for She’s a heck of a DJ (on K107FM) and an authority on obscure 80’s music.

How about Victor Romeo? 1988, Electronic/House dance, song called “Acid Rain (Rain Dance U.K. Mix)”
Actually, that would be Victor Romeo Presents: Leatrice Brown
Galaxy II Orchestra - Acid Rain
Wow. 14 years later!
I’m afraid Olive doesn’t hang with us these days.
It took longer than we thought.
Crap, it kills me that only one of the links from 2006 works and it doesn’t even go to music. I’d like to hear the song from the OP.
I think this is it on Youtube It reminds me of Depeche Mode a bit, but definitely 80s!
