I have a raging yeast infection on my chest, under my moobs. I saw my dermatologist on Monday. She has prescribed oral medication, a topical cream (econazole nitrate) as well as Epsom salt soaks.
But the rash is still very painful. It’s a constant stinging feeling. Touching the area or movement makes it worst, and the Epsom salt soaks are #@!*&@^@.
I have a call into her office, but she may not get back to me until the end of the day, so I was hoping some one here could suggest an topical OTC pain relief.
the best I can think of, having had more than my share of annoying skin reactions, is tylenol and an ice pack. Since you already have a cream, I don’t know what would adversely interact with that and would be hesitant to mix. If you truly need something topical, maybe some anesthetic spray like solarcaine?
I’m going to the ER, this is unbearable and something else is going on as the underside of my belly (I’m really fat) is discolored. It doesn’t hurt, sting, or weep like the yeast infection does so I didn’t notice it until it came over the “horizon” of my belly.
The doctor did call in a prescriptions, but Walgreens hasn’t filled it yet because of a problem with my insurance.
Jesus, why would there be a problem with your insurance for yeast cream? Millions of women get the stuff (along with the generic for Diflucan and so on). Any clinician at the insurance company should know that men CAN and DO get thrush in various locations, so it shouldn’t be denied because of your gender.
I second the ice pack and a cool-to-cold bath or cold compresses. The pills will take a day or two to kick in (probably two; your description sounds like it’s extensive).
I also am loath to suggest an anesthetic cream because although it’ll be effective, but it’ll sting like a mofo.
Benadryl *might *help with the itching.
I hope you get relief soon. That’s just ridiculous.
Johnson & Johnson First Aid Wash contains real lido.
Another OTC skin prep (can never remember the name) in a creme and green bottle - used by the gallon for poison ivy.
This has been very tiring and my WiFi has been unreliable lately.
It wasn’t for the yeast cream, I already had that, It was for a different cream($750 a tube) that was supposed to reduce the inflammation and itchiness. My doctor change the prescription to one that didn’t need a Prior Authorization.
Nope, just a massive yeast infection. Both rashes are yeast, even though they look & act differently. I’m starting to feel a little better, the pain, while still there, is lessening.
I’ve found the most helpful thing is stick deodorant/antiperspirant (I use Degree, but I don’t think it matters). I have no idea why. I mean, I’d expect it to *prevent *yeast infections by reducing the moisture, but it actually seems to kill the suckers faster than the creams or orals.
It burns like a bitch for about 30 seconds, then it’s sweet, sweet relief.
But I’m glad you got it checked out (and that it’s still just yeast). I’ve seen a couple cases of cellulitis that were initially diagnosed as yeast infections. Not cool.
Try diaper rash cream. Not gel, cream. Doesn’t have to be expensive, store brand is probably fine. I know the kind of rash you mean.
For future reference, once it clears up you could try something like this for any areas that chafe or get rashes. It works and does not feel greasy, it really does feel “powdery” as advertised. Maybe apply some to those areas on days when you know you’re likely to get sweaty. There are similar products marketed to the athlete crowd but that I’ve noticed they are more expensive.
