So, there has always been this tradition in my family to make orange gin fizzes around Christmas time. No clue why it was a Christmas tradition, but it’s a recipe that was handed down for generations. It was always served in the same silver-plated goblets with matching coffee-type ewer. Tradition.
My mother is the last of her generation & she possesses the servingware, but the recipe didn’t seem to be written down anywhere, and it’s lost to the ages. Even Google is failing me.
Does anyone have a recipe for a “gin fizz” made with orange sherbet? All I can remember is that it contained gin (duh) and eggs or egg yolks along with store-bought orange sherbet which was melted down & added to the mix.
Thanks for the suggestion. The Ramos Gin Fizz is all I could find in my internet searches, but it’s nothing like the recipe I’m searching for. Will have to experiment.
Only as sure as the store-bought orange sherbet half gallon blocks we used to buy at Thrifty.
In that case, I’d start with a standard gin fizz recipe, except cut the simple (or gomme) syrup drastically and sub sherbet. Might take a few tries, but you can drink the results. For science!
