Help!!! "Slante!" - definition please!!!

I am, I admit, a barbaric, ignorant rube, out of touch with the 21st century, etc.

Today I received an email message from a young woman and her ending salutation was “Slante!” I googled it and found thousands of hits, but I have no idea what it means! At first I thought it Gaelic, then Spanish, then French but I have come up empty…

…can someone please enlighten me so that I may come up with an equally hip closing in my reply?

Thanks,

She misspelled it. It should have been Sláinte, an Irish word which is translated loosely as “Cheers!”

Looks to me like a mis-spelling of “slainte” which is Gaelic for “health” - roughly pronounced “slawncha”.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

And sláinte to all of you!
