I’m about to organize some air travel for a Cambodian, so I want to be clear on her first and last names so the documents match her passport.
Her name is Nhong Hema. She signs her e-mails “Hema,” is called “Mrs Hema,” and calls me “Dr. Shoshana.”
I’m assuming that “Nhong” is her surname. Is this correct? Thanks for the double-check.

Look at the identity page of the passport. Her surname will be listed under Surname / Nom and her given name(s) will be listed under Given names / Prénoms .
I assume Shoshana doesn’t have the woman’s passport.
But yes, Cambodian names are written with the family name (surname) first.
Obligatory cite.

True, I don’t have her passport, and she’s not accessible by e-mail all week to double-check.
Thanks.
