Help with firefox tab button

I accidentally (don’t ask how) installed some horror so that when I open a new tab in firefox, it goes to this site search.searchlf.com (don’t go there!) which loads this search engine. Can anyone help me figure out how to go back to having firefox display thumbnails of recently visited sites the way it used to do. I have searched all the options, all the add-ons windows in firefox settings and can find nothing to restore this. And, in its infinite wisdom, microsoft has abandoned the return to the last known good configuration in Win-10.

It looks like you’ve got some malware you need to get rid of. Try following these directions:

I requested a forum change for you.

Off to GQ. It’ll do better there.

Sounds like you have an unwanted Toolbar.

There is a program called Should I Remove It, which will list all the programs in your computer and recommend whether they are safe/useful or not.

Thanks. I meant to hit GQ of course, but must have slipped. In any case, the problem is solved (thanks to TSD of course). FYI, Malwarebytes didn’t do anything for this malware, but the site did explain how to reinitialize Firefox by clicking on ? in the options menu and asking to revert to the initial state. I did it and the problem seems solved. I will now have to redo my options, but that malware (which came from Scientific American of all places) is gone.

Yep, The Texas School For The Deaf is a wonderful resource.
