Help with images in Adobe Acrobat

I understand that there is a way to extract an image within a pdf file and convert it to a JPG or TIFF that I can use in AutoCAD.

What I need to know is can I do this in Adobe Acrobat? Or, do I need something like Photoshop to accomplish this. I don’t have photoshop at this time, but I will get it if I have to…

Thanks

It’s really easy, but this will save the entire page, not just the graphic:

File —> Save As… —> Select “TIFF”, “JPG” or whatever as your filetype —> Enjoy your graphics file!

This method does leave you with the entire page, so you can crop the page if you want before saving it out as a graphic.

You can also use the “Touch Up Object” tool to edit the graphic, and when the graphic opens in the external program, you can save it from there. However, this only works if you have a graphics editor on your computer.

Both of these methods should work with the full version of Acrobat 5 through 7. Enjoy!

THe more recent versions of Acrobat allow you to “export images.” I’m not at my own computer, so I can’t tell you exactly, but if you have a recent version it’s there in the menus somewhere.

Okay, I’m officially an idiot. Of course there’s an export images option – I’ve just never had to use it. Anyhow, in Acrobat 7, it’s in the Advanced menu, then “Export All Images.” If it were any more obvious, it would have bitten me. :smack:

Sorry I have not been able to respond, been out of the office all week

Thanks for the info about acrobat 6 & 7. I think my problem is that I am using acrobat 4

So thanks for the good advice guys

Just use the free Adobe Reader. Using the select tool, you can click on any image and copy it to the clipboard. Then you can paste it into MS Paint and save it as whatever format you want.
