ooookay… first of all, I have put the Toshiba SD-R1002 model in my puter (it was free and I don’t yet have a CD-RW). Its a CD-RW/DVD-ROM. I can’t find the driver to download anywhere on the net… I believe it is Atapi.exe. So if I could get some help with that I would be very happy.
Secondly, after installing thedriver, where can I find some software that will utilize the RW capabilities?
Umm… there isn’t a “driver” for this, The “RW” capabilities can only be utilized by programs that have disk burning capabilities built in. Win XP has this built into the OS applets. For 95/98/ME Roxio and Nero are two programs (among others) that can use the CDRW capabilities to burn CDRs. Burning programs that can usually auto-recognize CDRW drives and this capability can usually be updated if necessary.
According to Toshiba’s website, under Win 2k you need only install the drive hardware, and Windows will recognize it automatically upon boot-up. No drivers need to be installed. As astro said, Nero 5.5 will work for burning just fine.
