Help with Track Changes in Word

So here is the problem. I have been using the Track Changes feature on a word document, but this thing has been all over the place and there is a huge list of reviewers that have made comments at one time or another. I would like to manage this by eliminating some of them. There are no outstanding changes or comments left in the document, they have all been accepted or deleted. Is it possible to delete these old reviewers from the list? I have tried avery way I can think of but cannot find a way.

Thanks.

I am sympathetic to your case because not too long ago I had a “fun” time with header/footers and posted here. So the most help I can give you is to keep you boosted-up for the world of straight dopers to see. I honestly don’t even know what the hell “track chances” are haha -great huh?

My advise- if you have worked your way through the help menus and MS office database of posted Q/A format online then you can.

1)wait a bit longer as most traffic on this site seems to come towards the evening.

-or 2)you can try contacting my newest best friend “tellmeI’mnotcrazy” and begging her to have a look as I did. I’m hoping as long as I give out her screen name she will not mind the reference  Good luck!

Thinktank, I understand the problems with headers/footers, but I was able to get them worked out. Too bad that I didn’t see those questions when you posted them or I would have helped. Thanks for the bump though.

Track Changes is helpful when you send your document to someone else for editting/comments. You enable it (under the tools menu) and then all the changes they make will be highlighted and it will keep track of what was changed… hence the name. Many people can make modifications and they can each be set in a different color (depending on the options you select). Then, when you get it back you can accept or delete the changes individually.

There is a list of all people who have made changes and you can use it to turn on or off those from different people. Unfortunately, even after you accept or decline their changes, their name still shows up there. So, if you have a business plan that is constantyly being updated by many different people the namelist gets disgustingly long and you can’t even be sure who on there is from the last year or so.

I have looked through the help files as well as Microsoft’s online resources to no avail. I think it may be impossible. Google searching just gave me a pdf for a software product that lists this as one of its possible functions. Oh well.

What version of Word are you using? For Word 2003, once I accept all changes in a document in which changes have been tracked, my list of reviewers is cleared.

I am using Word 2002. Perhaps that is the problem.
