The kinda-annual-but-not-really shot glass exchange is here!
Here are the roolz:
If you want to participate, make a note in the thread here and then email me at sdmbshotglass@gmail with:
Real name
SDMB handle

Willingness to ship internationally. (If you are, you might want to check international rates. I was informed a few years ago that FedEx in particular was charging exorbitant amounts to send relatively small packages overseas from the US. USPS was cheaper but much more stringent about sending booze through the mail – as in, it’s prohibited.)
If the email doesn’t work – we had some issues in years past – feel free to PM me with the above info and I’ll make sure to add you to the spreadsheet.
What to send to your SGE recipient:
Mandatory: shot glass, representative of your locus.
Optional: everything else – local goodies, treats and kitsch are always welcome.
Date I’ll start matching senders to recipients: Oh, lets say Sunday, October 27. That’s 2 weeks from now.
Last year’s players and/or people I’ve noted from past exchanges that might be interested (no obligation to play, of curse):
I’m in! Info sent. I’ll try to do better this year.
I found some interesting shot glasses at my father in law’s house when we were cleaning it out this summer. So I’ve got a few to choose from if I don’t go out and get one specifically for the exchange.
It was from one of these exchanges I became acquainted with a candy from Australia called Jaffas. I’ve only found them one place here in the US, at Jungle Jim’s International Market in Ohio.
I have a box but will need to go shopping. And I can’t mail Monday because it’s a federal holiday but I won’t have a name anyway. I want to be ready the way Shoeless is.
LOL I’m not that ready yet! I have some shot glasses to choose from but not the other accoutrements. And yeah I’ll need to find a box. My wife orders stuff from Amazon all the time but the boxes usually go straight in the recycling bin.
Unfortunately, I read this while sipping a shot of Adrift Distilling small batch Straight Bourbon Whiskey (very small batch-get some the next time you’re in Long Beach, Washington), so I’m in.
I was flying from Perth to Sydney once. The flight attendant asked if I’d like a drink, and I said sure, I’d love a Swan Lager. Very popular in Western Australia, where I had spent the last month. She came back and said they had no Swan, but would I mind a Foster’s? Okay, fine. It’s beer. Passable, but beer nonetheless.
I reached for the $2 the beer would cost, but the flight attendant wouldn’t take it. “No, sir, we didn’t have your preferred brand, so this one is on us.” Then she leaned in. “And all subsequent Foster’s. We’re trying to get rid of it.”
