Yesterday Möpsin and me had our wedding in church (the registry office wedding was three weeks ago).
Quite apart from the joy of having the question that I asked her almost six years ago, at least answered in the affirmative, the day had another long-held wish of mine fulfilled.
I had found a scan of a 1880 piano score of The Pirates of Penzance, and had prevailed on the nice church organist to adapt it to the organ.
So we walked down the aisle to the tune of
*Here’s a first-rate opportunity
To get married with impunity,
And indulge in the felicity
Of unbounded domesticity.
You shall quickly be parsonified,
Conjugally matrimonified,
By a doctor of divinity,
Who is located in this vicinity. *
It was a perfect day, we had her 93 year old father with us in church, we will spend several days this year with some of our wedding guests who have lined up visits to cultural events in their towns, the scene of our party is already tidied up, the day after yesterday we leave for the honeymoon.
