I do have a question, since this thread is already open, though (I know it’s not the appropriate forum, but I don’t want to start an entire thread about it) -
How would I, for future reference, go about asking mods for permission for something?
And if I change the idea a little, and instead make a Web site where the recipes are displayed, with a form that people can use to submit recipes (with a disclaimer saying that it may eventually be included in a published work, credit given), and post a link here, maybe in my signature - is that acceptable? Or no go? Because I really, really want input from SMDB members, who are, as a whole, pretty innovative.
E-mail one of the staff who has “Administrator” for a title, (most folks tend to bug TubaDiva first), explaining your request.
If the request is a slam-dunk “yes” or “no,” (meaning it is similar to the last 200 requests that got that answer), the Admin will respond immediately with the answer. If it is a bit different than other requests, your request will be passed around the staff for comments and a (sort of) vote, so it may take a day or two longer.
Be sure to include “SDMB” in the e-mail heading and mention your SDMB username if it is different than your e-mail address.
It’s best to send us an e-mail explaining exactly what you want to do and, if you’re using a third-party web site, to include a link. The staff will discuss whether it’s permissible or not, and then we’ll respond letting you know the decision. (If it’s a “no”, we’ll explain our reasoning why.)
When you send an e-mail, be sure to send it to more than one staff member (to increase the chance your e-mail will be seen right away, or at all if someone’s on vacation), and to include “SDMB” in the subject line (which will help us separate spam from legitimate e-mails).
Dunno. I’ll throw it to the circle to see what everyone thinks.
SkipMagic and tomndebb - thank you, although you’re being awfully helpful for mods. Kidding, I do appreciate it tons. Despite having entirely too many posts for having been here less than six months, I am still a noob.
