Here's the Pit thread for career criminal civilans killing cops.

And police officers killing innocent civilians without justification is a new thing? You think?

No, but social awareness of the injustices is increasing.

What outrages me about this is that this killer is likely not only to avoid any prison time for this killing, but he’s probably even going to keep his government job, drawing a paycheck from MY tax dollars! It is OUTRAGEOUS to me to think that this killer is representing me!

Fair warning–I’ve not clicked on the link. It’s possible that Annie is ridiculously inept at understanding the outrage over cops shooting people, thinks that the outrage is just over the murder, is completely unaware of the outrage over the impunity with which the killings are committed, and hasn’t ever considered the issue of making taxpayers pay the salary of a killer. But I choose to think the best of people, so I assume she’s linking to an article in which a killer is going to get away with his crime and is going to continue drawing a government salary.

Fookin’ bravo, guv.

Cop lives matter

Yes, but do other people’s lives matter to cops?

If there’s two women, wouldn’t it be four hooters?

Only two of them are actively on fire.

Perhaps Other Peoples and Cops can trade.

I’m not afraid to declare that I like kittens more than I like habitual criminals who shoot cops.

[SUB]Okay I’m a* little *bit afraid…[/SUB]

Do you like them enough to do your part in getting god to stop killing them?

A consistent pattern would suggest I have very little influence.

For the sake of taking the Devil’s Advocate position: I support the concept that career criminals should kill cops. I have no proof, it’s just a feeling.

Does our justice system routinely fail to hold to account “career criminal civilians killing cops” because of a systemic bias favoring them over the killers of other kinds of people?

Is there a significant proportion of society—nearing the 50 percent mark—that seeks to excuse “career criminal civilians killing cops” with the argument that they acted legitimately in using lethal force against the cops?

Does the phenomenon of “career criminal civilians killing cops” derive from a centuries-long systemic bias against cops that has systematically disadvantaged cops economically, socially, politically, and in other ways in our society?

Being a “criminal” is not a state of being. It is a description based on identifying criminal behavior. When we come across someone who has unlawfully killed a cop, we treat him or her as a criminal because unlawfully killing a cop is a crime.

In contrast, the criticisms of how cops are treated when they disproportionately unjustifiably persecute, abuse, or kill racial minorities are based on the fact that they are engaging in criminal behavior—or what should be considered as criminal behavior—but they are not being treated as criminals.

What is a “career criminal”, anyway? I think that implies a freedom of choice and personal responsibility that gives tighty-righties a hard-on, but I wonder if it actually means anything. I very much doubt that anyone looks over the brochures…Is A Life of Crime Right for You?..and decides to major in Extortion with a minor in Drug Distribution.

The “career criminal” is a loser, uneducated, unintelligent, devoid of opportunity in the normal world. They know they’re going to prison, sooner or later, its all part of the game. They know that is their future, and their present consists of running scams, getting high, and making it last as long as they can. Their dearest and closest friends will tip them into the shit to get out of the shit themselves.

That isn’t a life, that’s barely an existence.

Well said, Acsenray.

Wait . . . I’m confused. I agree with everything you posted, but how does that relate to Alessan’s reply? He was asking about a weird well-poisoning non-sequitur.

Maybe this thread will make more sense in the morning . . .

I’m sorry, but that’s adorable.

No it won’t, 'cause he stealthed edited his post. He meant to quote Annie, he quoted me first  I replied before he fixed his post.

Or at least that’s how I think it went down. Maybe I need to get more rest.

EDIT: Nope, he never edited his post. I’m going crazy!

Well, this is damned confusing.
