Heroes 03/02/09: Exposed (Spoilers)

So, if Rebel can access the files in Building 26 willy nilly, why didn’t he just download the incriminating stuff and spare Petey and Parkey the trouble of Jedi mind tricking their way in? Or, for that matter, just haxxor up all their stuff – it’s been a plot point in nearly every episode after the building’s introduction so far that some random data analyst spots something on a conveniently placed camera, so taking that out would seem to be quite some victory for the rebellion.

Also, who would ever do an exchange involving files? What, you’re just gonna trust the other guy that he didn’t make a copy? Blackmailer’s honour?

I did like the ending, though – two dangling points, puppetmaster and Atomic Bomberparkman, means there’s things set in motion that demand resolution. In other words, story progress!

Also props for not just upholding the status quo at all costs, i.e. actually making this thing public with those files.

I enjoyed this episode more than last week. At least things were moving along. That water boy sure has a nice six pack. Poor Matt just can’t cut a break, though.

I could not agree more. If I don’t like a show I don’t watch it. I happen to like this show in spite of the hokey writing and flaws.

You are not remembering back far enough.

I took over starting the episode threads last season because previous starters had bailed on doing so, and I was still enjoying the show. I was happy when Annie took over, because aside from the first episode this season – which I liked very much – I have found that the quality of the show has declined. Quite a bit.

Back when all the prior thread-regulars were complaining about the quality of the show, I too pointed out that there is no reason to watch a show that you don’t enjoy. I fully intend to drop this show if it gets to that point for me – but as I mentioned, Mrs. Bennet was awesome this episode. And with the writing staff being revised, there is still a glimmer of hope.

That said, I’ve always seen these threads as for discussion. Including pointing out the ugly warts of the show, not solely gushing over its awesomeness. Even when I was one of the ones gushing. Heck, sometimes I even find some of the shows warts charming, such as Hiro’s perpetual cupidity.

The goal was to spring Daphne, Peter just took the thumb drive and the opportunity when it arose.

I think Nathan was being a wee bit naive. Or he’s sabotaging himself because the Round 'em Up isn’t working the way he expected it to.

It looked like he had to deliberately choose to do it, too. When get got the Tracey-freezies on the plane, I’d chalk that up to confusion and duress. Or, he’s learning how to control it. Like he did in S1.

Yeah, this felt more like a late S1 episode-how would regular people act in extraordinary circumstances. As far as Alex having a dopey ability- not everyone’s going to mutate into something cool. The guy who could turn himself into water? Infinitely worse. Besides, Claire doesn’t get nearly enough nookie for a girl her age- good on her.

If I must pick at the icing- No way Sandra was into metal. I’d peg her more Supertramp. And Danko’s ‘evildoer explains evil plot and iffy motivations to hero’ in the van with Matt. Not necessary. He was set up last week with Peter as wanting a reason to shoot 'em all. Matt didn’t need to know Danko’s motivation in order to stand on the Mall with a dynamite vest. He could have just smirked back at Matt.

I must have been imagining this, but when Sylar first starts to remember going into the diner with his father, I could have sworn Daddy had horn-rimmed glasses. Just from one very, very brief glimpse.

Now, I know it couldn’t have been Noah. But that would be cool!

Caught one possible continuity error though. Claire was over a year old when she was adopted, from something said in the first season. She’s 17 now. Lyle is old enough to drive - which means 16, right? (what is the driving age in California). So this means Lyle had to have come on the scene shortly after Claire was adopted. Was Lyle adopted too? or was he made the old-fashioned way (we’ve all heard of families who’ve adopted their first, only to find they weren’t so infertile after all). If Lyle was home-grown, Mrs. Bennett should have been visibly pregnant in the flashback show last fall.

Claire was a newborn when she was handed of to the Bennets, we saw this scene in season one and this one. Driving age is 15 in some places, not sure about California.

Yes! I have closure  I can put up with any rules no matter how silly as long as I know what they are.

Aww, I thought this ep was great! (apart from as usual all the bits with Sylar but I have learned to tune him out by now so it didn’t bother me). Heroes even at its best always has one foot planted firmly in Melodrama but I don’t think that 's always a bad thing. I thought it was all very exciting and enjoyable.Great to see Ashley Crow as Sandra getting more screentime - I thought she was awesome this week.

I thought Adrian Pasdar was especially good this week too at creating an almost palpable sense of panic at finally realising the situation had totally fallen from his control. So I can buy the swooping in to save Peter at an emotional level if nothing else. Although that’s it, right now for him doing that Senator’s job? He isn’t going to carry on punching the clock and jusr hoping Danko didn’t get a good look at who just might have saved Pete. Right?

… from the Invisible Man???

Well, we can both agree on that! I think she was just being held back by Haitian mindwipes before.

I actually really like the character development they’ve given Mrs. Bennet. Especially since it has not come at the expense of her previous portrayal. Case in point – the house money being stored in “Mr. Muggles’ shoe”. That is the same whacky lady we saw in season 1… except now we’re seeing how she might have ended up with Mr. Bennet in the first place. That’s good stuff.

And she acts like a real mom. That hardly ever happens on tv. But the bits with her and Claire, and her and Lyle rang true to life. (other than the superpowers, of course.)

… although, didn’t she used to smoke? Maybe had to give it up when they moved to California; they’ve already got enough people trying to haul them away, I guess, without the anti-smoking police coming to get them.

My problem with this season, and atleast parts of last season - is that this series is way too much “soap opera” and not enough serial/drama/whatever you call it to make up for it.

Not nearly enough forward momentum, or worse yet, when there is, it doesn’t matter next week - char X is dead, no wait, he/she isnt.

Still watching, still hoping that Fuller’s return brings us back to what could be - perhaps raising the dead for 60 seconds is a power we haven’t seen yet.

A tad of a sidetrack, but I happened to catch Austin Powers: Goldmember this weekend and I caught appearances by both Hiro and Matt in tiny bit parts.

Not knowing their birthdays, there could be almost 2 years of age difference between Claire and Lyle (if he is very new to 16 and she is almost 18). So I don’t think one could say absolutely she must have been well pregnant when they got Claire.

That side, my problem with that bit was that in real life that trick with the driver’s license wouldn’t be possible. California DLs have the photo printed directly on the license. There is no lamination you can remove to replace the photo (the entire license is a single piece of plastic).

Have they been in Cali long enough for Lyle to have gotten his license there, though? That might’ve been a Texas license.

Mrs. Bennet had the best part this week.

“You’re busted.”
“He’s, uh, my boyfriend. We’re having SEX.”
:dubious:
“Okay, actually I have powers and evil agents are after me.”

What would a parent rather hear?

No think so, that was Meredith. If she did, Sandra would be my mom. Except for the ‘married to spy guy’ thing. Although dad was a salesman too…:dubious:

Naw, that looked like Missy Pere-whatsit(too lazy to look up her last name). Did little Gabriel have horn rim glasses too? Bwah! Well, we know he inherited the eyebrows from mom.

I know; “oh, that’s your cover story? Yeah, right, who’d you kill & where’d you leave the body?”

(Well, Sylar and Primatech, but hey )

The latest Behind the Eclipse is up, and thank god, someone else noticed Mohinder’s beta-male problem:

He is *so *trying to infiltrate Nathan’s narcs. Am I the only viewer who heard him goading the SWATs to come 'n get him at the motel?
And can Peter pick and choose the abilities he siphons? Answer’s at the link.

When they showed her putting in the replacement photo, wasn’t it a California one? I thought so but I could be wrong.

I came in here to grouse about the lack of interesting story, but on second thought you all don’t want to hear that. Instead, I’ll ask you what do you think should happen?

The framework is setting up a war between the heroes and the government (led by a super). The government has an organization, I would like to see the heroes get organized (maybe need some new characters - these guys can’t seem to pull it together). Now didn’t the same thing kind of happen in X-men? Though it was usually a background plot to more pressing issues, Heroes seems to lack these pressing issues, it’s just the big story. They need to compartmentalize some of the story. What do you think?

Okay, I want Mrs. Bennet to walk in on Slyar & boy-toy.

“You’re busted.”
“He’s, uh, my boyfriend. We’re having SEX.”
:dubious:
“Okay, actually I’m a serial killer and I’m not sure why boy-toy is here. But the slashfic writers are typing their fingers bloody right now.”
