Heroes 03/02/09: Exposed (Spoilers)

I think Noah has something to do with it. Perhaps he’s the one who got Micah to use his skills to do this? I think the info about Daphne was initially good but she was moved at the last minute. Wasn’t Noah surprised to hear Daphne had been moved?

Actually, graphic novels generally have a complete storyline. Comic books typically have serialized parts of a storyline (and are often collected together into a graphic novel including the entire storyline).

Heroes has been using a serialized, web-based comic story as a promotional tie-in to the tv show since season one. The Hana Gitelman was the season one tie-in.

It is supposed to be in-continuity with the tv show, and to further explore things revealed on the tv show, but not to reveal things necessary to understand the tv show. This has, since season one, infuriated a certain portion of the Heroes fanbase, who apparently bitterly resent being expected to keep up with more stuff on the web.

Personally, I found the web stuff rather uninteresting, and stopped keeping up with it some time ago.

Yeah, I stopped reading the online stuff a long time ago too, but they do add a bit to the story if you have the time.

Was it my imagination? I could have sworn we actually did see Wireless on the show, or maybe in some sort of pre-season teaser or something?

Micah and Wireless working together would be perfect. Micah is a bit young to be making grownup decisions about the rebellion all by himself, and Wireless could use a pair of hands from time to time, I’m sure.

Yes. she turns up to talk to Ted Sprague in an episode in back in Season one after IMing him. With her mind

She was with Parkman and Sprague before they went to the Bennets house, the mysteriously dissapeared and this apparently had something to do with the comic.

I thought Rebel is Bennet. Or, perhaps the Hunter trying to lure them into exposing themselves to make capture easier. Maybe I’m totally off base with both theories, though.

Did Syler say he was eight when his Dad did “something terrible” to him? That’s pretty old not to remember what happened… Are Gary Stues as prone to childhood amnesia as Mary Sues are?

Sure hope not- forgot that he had other parents from age 0-8? Better be some Haitian in that!

My guess. . .Rebel is Micah, under Mama Petrelli’s direction. Nathan talked to Mama about Rebel, and asked her if she knew anything about it. She protests that she “doesn’t know the first thing about computers.” If she had Micah, she wouldn’t need to. This scenario just feels right to me.

There was a deleted scene on one of the DVDs where Claire and Lyle are discussing the fact that they were both adopted. Don’t know if this made it into the official cannon, though.

Noah gave the mental clue to Peter at Nathan’s prodding. Note that Nathan was very sure to tell Noah as he left “Remember Peter can read your mind.”

I don’t think Rebel is Noah, mainly because it seems kind of dumb to warn your daughter to save Alex-aquaman from yourself. (On the other hand, I suppose it would explain why Noah Super-Spy was defeated by a magazine rack. Plausible deniability, perhaps? He pretends to go after Alex just so as not to tip off the guvmint boys?)

I do think it is likely to be someone on the inside – someone who couldn’t smuggle out the video himself without blowing his cover, but could show Pete and Matt where it was. Rebel also seems to know exactly when the bag-n-tag teams are on the approach and who they’re looking for… he’s listening to their radios, at least.

The kid looked like he was maybe 4 or 5.

I had actually wondered if Rebel might be a bad guy trying to trip them up. Either the Hunter of someone in cahoots with him. So far everything Rebel’s done could have an ulterior motive. Saving Aquaboy means that Cheerleader isn’t at home and protected by her fathers, a loose cannon. The video grab could be a way to do an end run around the government keeping things secret (how convenient Daphne wasn’t there) and to tip things toward a wild, anti-terrorist anything goes situation. And of course sending Puppetmaster to Cheerleader’s place seems like a major disaster in the wings.

Of course it’s still ambiguous enough that it could go either way.

Wow, this episode was all over the place. Surprisingly, the bits with Claire’s mom were the highlight; I guess she can function like a reasonably smart human being when she isn’t constantly getting Haitian-wiped.

Favorite quote is Nathan mumbling to Danko: “Peter’s smart…” I had to pause right there because I was laughing so hard. And when Peter hugged Nathan for the magic of flight, I just lost it. Guess he did learn something from the old man. What is it with Petrelli men and hugs? It’s like some sort of weird genetic predisposition to accept hugs unconditionally. I suspect if Nathan were elected president, all Al Qaeda would have to is send a suicide bomber in with an expectant face and arms outstretched.

BTW, Annie, I miss your recap!

Rough week, sorry. Also can’t think of a way to mock a preschooler watching his mommy getting murdered, so better luck next week!

Isn’t that an Italian thing? It’s okay to hug/kiss your father-son-brother-friend if it turns out you’re probably going to have to kill them.
