Herschel Walker (need I say more?)

You’re not the first to ask.

To be clear, I am not saying that Walker has CTE. There’s no way, at present, to determine that. But it’s difficult to watch Walker in his few public appearances and escape the conclusion that he is suffering from some form of cognitive decline.

If he does, it is legitimately sad.

While I don’t think Walker has claimed to have CTE, he has talked about having other mental health struggles in the past. From my first cite above:

Shortly after ending his NFL career, Walker stated that he struggled with dissociative identity disorder, but now feels he has it under control.

I think the republicans want him in the senate because he won’t think independently and vote the way he believes is right. He’ll vote in whatever way they tell him.

I’m not sure he can think independently.

You mean like his opponent, who voted 96.4% of the time with the President?

Does Your Member Of Congress Vote With Or Against Biden? | FiveThirtyEight

Did you bother to look at your cite? Warnock voted less often with Biden than the Democratic average. Hardly the sign of a robot taking orders.

Kyrsten Sinema, who is considered a “moderate Democrat”, and a swing vote in the Senate, even she voted 94% of the time with Biden. That’s not much less than Warnock. Is she someone who “can’t think independently”?

Seems like a pretty failed “gotcha” attempt.

Heck, even Joe Manchin voted with Biden 89% of the time.

There’s little room for “independent votes” in the Senate anyway because the Majority Leader usually won’t bring a bill to the floor until he knows he has the requisite votes lined up for passage. The last vote I can recall that was a true surprise on the floor was when McCain tanked the Obamacare repeal in 2017.

The only vote of Walker’s that the GOP cares about is the one for Majority Leader (which isn’t actually a vote but – it’s complicated.)

So he voted against the Biden Administration’s position less than 4 % of the time. In a state where Biden’s approval rating is underwater by 14 points. That doesn’t sound like a winning election strategy, to me. :man_shrugging:

Good to know that, some, folks think you should vote on stuff according to the President’s approval rating and not the actual merits of the bill . . . not that that isn’t close to the current conservative definition of how one votes if there’s a ‘D’ after the President’s name.

No, oh skilled political consultant, running against someone who pays for abortions is a much better strategy.
I hope you advised all the Republicans to turn against Trump 4 years ago, just to be consistent.
The question anyhow was being in lockstep. Do you admit Warnock isn’t? He voted with Biden less than that well know hewer to the party line, Elizabeth Warren.
I know what it really is. Don’t look at the horrible Republican candidate, look over there.

Let’s just wait and see what the voters in GA say on Nov. 8th, shall we?

Look, the upside is Herschel Walker supports abortion, the downside is Herschel Walker only supports abortion . . . for women that have sex with Herschel Walker.

Don’t forget that some of the voters who don’t approve of Biden (or at least say they don’t in polls) do so because he’s too moderate and not kicking Republican ass enough for their tastes.

Heck, Mitch McConnell voted with Biden most (55%) of the tIme.

I think many items that make it far enough to get voted on are either so obviously good that few people object regardless of party, and others include compromises between the parties. So yes, there is going to be plenty of legislation that Republicans vote for and Biden wants. Nobody is at 0%.

Some people forget that Congress isn’t a football game. You don’t have two sides trying to score and win. Sometimes it seems like that, but it’s supposed to be a process where a bunch of elected representatives get together and make decisions about laws. Not a game or a war that people are trying to win. When people disagree, they should work together on a solution.

People who adopt the mindset that this is supposed to be a battle between good and evil are the problem. Compromising and coming to an agreement between the sides isn’t compromising integrity or letting the bad guys get away with something. That’s how things get done.

I think these charts showing who agrees with Biden or whatever are toxic. What matters more is what specific items a person supports and what they actually do in their job as a representative. Not some kind of “purity test”.

Maybe that explains his constant lying for all his adult life; it’s always Herschel Walker II that does all the bad stuff, so Herschel Walker Prime has no memory of abortions, out of wedlock children, threatening to kill his family etc. Wouldn’t be the first Republican excuse that made me roll my eyes.

Maybe we need a psych test that candidates need to pass to run for office. Maybe add on a lie detector. Might get rid of some of the worst ones.

Huh, McConnell actually supports him. I thought he would stay out of that mess, but I guess he really needs Georgia. So much for lamenting the lack of more qualified people in national offices.

It used to be. It seems like more and more, legislation runs along party lines. That’s why the desperate push to win seats in the Senate the last few years. A single seat majority is now seen as a great win.

More of the wit and wisdom of Herschel Walker:

Herschel Walker just now: “I’ve been telling this little story about this bull out in the field with six cows, and three of them are pregnant… so you know he’s got something going on”

Has he been fucking cows?

Only three of the cows are pregnant? Yeah, that’s a bull with something going on, but fortunately, nowadays, it can be cured.

Where was he attempting to go with this story about the semi-impotent bull?

He introduces this Aesopian parable with “They been saying, something is better somewhere else” and concludes with the moral “So what I’m telling you, don’t think something is better somewhere else.”

Apparently he’s telling the voters that they should stick with Senator Warnock, and I must say that his every word confirms the logic of that conclusion.
