My son Kaishu was born exactly one month ago, on October 15, by emergency C-section. He weighed 1915grams (which I’m told is about 4.4pounds) and was in NICU for two weeks. I was also hospitalised for two weeks because I ended up with pre-eclampsia.
Despite the rocky start, we are both home now and are fine. I had my one-month checkup yesterday and received the all clear. Kaishu has his checkup next week, so I have my fingers crossed.
He is very cute, but a little pig, constantly wants to be fed and so (TMI warning!) my nipples are very very sore (not cracked, though, which is a blessing).
Unfortunately he is still too little to fit into any of the clothes I received from my Storks, but I will post pics once he can.
You can see some pics here and here. That’s me in the pics with him.
Awwww…he’s gorgeous!! Congratulations. I still have my daughter’s hisono. If I could, I’d have (if I’m lucky to go to term again) all my kids in Japan.
I have to say, though, that your daughter? Well, let’s just say I wouldn’t want to be you in about 12 years or so. You’re going to have boys beating down your door. And #1 son is a cutie patootie too!
Lansinoh (purified lanolin) - you using it? Helps the owie nipples a lot. Didn’t use it the first son, started using it with the second, and kicked myself immediately for not using it the first time.
thanks everyone. of course i think he’s beautiful (and the older two as well), but its always a proud moment when you receive affirmation from others!
here in japan, we keep the remnant of the umbilical cord which was attached to the baby, because it reminds us of the bond between mother and child. that’s what anahita mentioned in her post.
scotticher, the other kids in the photos are my elder two. hubby is already worrying about his daughter’s future!
